Description:
The University at Buffalo invites applications for a full-time, Visiting
Assistant Professor (10-month) position in applied and theoretical Romance
Linguistics, preferably with focus in socio-linguistics, cross-cultural
communication, creolization and language contact, and/or indigenous varieties.
Candidates with two or more Romance Languages (Spanish, French, Haitian
Krèyol, Italian, or Portuguese) are strongly encouraged to apply, as are those
with focus on language communities of the Caribbean/Latin America. The
position will begin in the 2019-2020 academic year and will require teaching 2
courses per semester with at least one graduate seminar. This is a two-year,
non-tenure-track position.
Candidates should have a PhD conferred by the start date of the appointment,
and demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching Spanish linguistics at
multiple levels. Applicants specializing in any area of Romance Linguistics
will be considered and their degree should be from a department focused on the
study of Romance Languages, general linguistics, or applied linguistics.
