Description:
The section of German linguistics at the Department of German Philology of the
University of Freiburg (Germany) seeks applications for a three-year PhD
position in Linguistics or Phonetics (65% E13 TV-L) from October 1, 2019 (if
suitable also earlier). The PhD position is embedded in a research project on
the sociophonetics of German multiethnolects funded by the German Research
Foundation (DFG).
The PhD candidate will carry out a sociolinguistic study on the perception and
evaluation of sound features in the German multiethnolect as used among
adolescents. Ideally, he/she will have some experience in experimental
designs, data collection via schools and statistics. A solid phonetic,
sociolinguistic OR psycholinguistic background is needed. Very good knowledge
of German is a prerequisite, although no master in German Linguistics is
required.
