Tenured Professorship in Romance Philology / Linguistics with a focus on
Italian linguistics

The successful applicant will cover the area of Romance Philology with a focus
on Italian linguistics in research and teaching.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher
Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

The successful candidate is required to have a research focus on Italian
linguistics and linguistics in a second romance language, preferably French or
Spanish. Applicants should have expertise in at least two of the following
areas, verifiable through distinguished peer-reviewed publications: Grammar
theory, research into multilingualism, sociolinguistics, and empirical
methods. We are looking for a candidate with experience in research and
teaching in an international environment as well as experience in acquiring
and leading externally funded research projects. Sufficient German language
skills are required by the start of the appointment.

Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin
Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following
activities:

She or he will actively engage in the establishment of future collaborative
research projects and teach in all study programs at the Institute of Romance
Languages and Literatures as well as further interdisciplinary study programs
engaged in linguistics, including the teacher training programs and those
interdisciplinary programs with a reference to Italy and France. We expect the
new professor to engage in the Interdisciplinary Centres at Freie Universität
Berlin (Interdisciplinary Centre European Languages, Italienzentrum and
Frankreich­zentrum). The appointee is expected to also address gender and
diversity issues relevant to the field.

- Cpies of all certificates of academic qualification in German or English; if
applicable the letter of appointment (please add translations if needed), 
- A list of publications, 
- A list of courses previously taught, and 
- Evidence of teaching competence. 

Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future
research endeavours, joint research projects and externally funded projects,
and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective
content area, please give information on industrial cooperation,
inventions/patents and spin-offs.
