TTS Language Engineer for Arabic
Job Description:
Global Search Engines are building a platform to support products that can
talk in the most natural manner. They work on a wide range of languages,
always striving for the highest accuracy, speed and versatility. As a Language
Engineer, you will be improving our Text-to-Speech system by working on a
variety of technical tasks related to the Natural Language Processing
component.
This includes:
- Developing rules for a text normalization system;
- Large scale data mining;
- Customizing voice building tools;
- Quality evaluation and testing.
This is an opportunity to work on cutting edge technology in a dynamic team of
world-class experts. This is not a permanent position but a contract through
an employment agency. Open until filled.
The position is London-based and applicants must be currently authorised to
work in the UK.
Requirements:
Minimum requirements:
- BS degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Linguistics or
equivalent practical experience.
- Native speaker of Arabic and working command of English.
- Proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic (اللغة العربية الفصحى الحديثة)
- Familiarity with a Unix shell, command line tools and version control
system.
- Ability to build and understand regular expressions.
- Experience in a scripting language (e.g. Python).
Preferred Requirements:
- Native speaker of spoken Egyptian Arabic.
- Experience in vowel restoration (الحركات والتشكيل).
- Proficiency in a modern programming language (Python / C++ preferred).
- Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with knowledge of
phonetics, phonology, syntax and morphology.
- SQL and databases.
