Meeting Description:
The Eighth Annual Bonn Applied English Linguistics Conference will take place
on June 28-29, 2019 with a special focus on language assessment.
The conference will take place at the Department of English, American, and
Celtic Studies (IAAK), University of Bonn, Regina-Pacis-Weg 5, 53113 Bonn.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Carsten Roever (University of
Melbourne) will be our keynote speaker this year, with a talk titled,
''Measuring pragmatic ability: the missing piece in language assessment''.
The second call for papers is currently open. Submissions will be accepted
until Friday, March 22, 2019.
Call for Papers:
The special focus of this year’s conference will be on language assessment.
Papers from all areas of applied linguistics are welcome, with a preference
for papers with an empirical approach. The conference is open to all
interested applicants, but aimed specifically at postgraduates, PhD students
and post-docs.
Please send your proposals to bael at uni-bonn.de by 22 March 2019. Abstracts
should be approximately 300 words long and show a clear research objective.
Please also include a short bio-note of maximally 100 words in your email.
Speakers will be given 20 minutes for their presentation, followed by a
10-minute Q&A session. The conference is conducted entirely in English.
We will inform you whether you have been accepted for the BAELc8 via e-mail by
1 April 2019.
