Call for Linguistics research presentations for THEY 2019
They, Hirself, Xem, and YOU is a three-day conference bringing together
linguists and other researchers working on topics relating to nonbinary
pronouns in English. The conference will include two tracks of talks and
presentations: one featuring research from linguistics (L-Track), and one
featuring scholars and practitioners from other fields (O-Track). Presenters
will also participate in discussion groups working to build a resource
compiling information and resources on nonbinary pronouns, for general use.
This call is for L-track presentations; for information on the O-track call
please visit https://educ.queensu.ca/they2019/callforpapers
We invite L-Track proposals for talks presenting research relating to
nonbinary gender in language, or language use in nonbinary and trans
communities. Proposals are welcome from any subdiscipline of linguistics,
including (but not limited to) sociolinguistics, theoretical linguistics,
psycholinguistics, and applied linguistics.
Talks will be 20 minutes long; depending on the volume of submissions a poster
session may be added to the program. L-track proposals will be selected on the
basis of blind review.
Abstracts submitted to the L-track should be one page (minimum font size
11pt), including any linguistic examples; a second page may be attached with
references and figures, if needed. Abstracts should be submitted via email to
theyconference2019 at gmail.com, with ''L-Track Proposal'' in the subject line,
by the deadline of March 31, 2019 (11PM Eastern). Please ensure that the
abstract, including its file name, does not include any information
identifying the author(s).
There will be no registration fee for the conference; information on
