Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies (LML) & Student Affairs

Appointee will be required to provide teaching and administrative support, be
engaged in evening social activities and occasionally weekend activities.
Reporting both to LML & SAO, appointee will be provided with opportunities to
interact with student-residents,and to enhance students’ language abilities &
cultural awareness. He/she will provide teaching support for elementary French
Language courses and conduct language advising sessions focusing on basic
communication skills in French. Where necessary, appointee may be required to
run language advising workshops in English and teach French Language
courses.In-house training in language advising will be provided to the
appointee. Appointee is required to reside in a student hostel. Appointment
will commence from mid-August 2019.

Successful applicant should be a native speaker of French and fluent in
English, with at least a Bachelor’s degree preferably in the areas of teaching
and/or language education. He/she should have a sound knowledge in graphics
applications as well as a high level of literacy in computer applications
including MS Office, and possess strong communication and presentation skills,
problem-solving and leadership skills as well as planning and organizing
abilities.

- A YouTube link for a 2-min self-introduction video (one version in English
and one in French); 
- A written proposal (in English & in French) on the following topic: “You are
in charge of organising an event to raise students' interest in studying
French at the university. Write a proposal, including the objectives, event
details, expected challenges and possible solutions.” 
- Applicants are requested to sign the ‘Plagiarism Declaration Sheet’ for the
proposal.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications & experience. Fringe benefits
include leave,outpatient medical & dental benefits. Assignment of hostel is
subject to the needs of individual halls. For details of student
hostels,please refer to our website. The appointees reside in student hostels
have to comply with Residential Regulations as other EdUHK student-residents.
