International Conference EUROPHRAS 2019: ‘Computational and Corpus-based
Phraseology’

Malaga, 25-27 September 2019

The forthcoming international conference ‘Computational and Corpus-based
Phraseology’ will take place in Malaga from 25 to 27 September 2019.

The conference will focus on interdisciplinary approaches to phraseology and
will invite submissions on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited
to: corpus-based, psycholinguistic and cognitive approaches to the study of
phraseology, the computational treatment of multi-word expressions, and
practical applications in translation, lexicography and language learning,
teaching and assessment.

EUROPHRAS, the University of Malaga (Research Group in Lexicography and

Due to a number of requests, we have extended the submission deadline of
EUROPHRAS 2019 regular, short and poster papers to 15 May 2019. In addition,
and in line with the EUROPHRAS conferences tradition, we have offered the
option of submitting abstracts only for oral presentation at EUROPHRAS 2019.

The forthcoming international conference ‘Computational and Corpus-based
Phraseology’ (EUROPHRAS 2019) will take place in Malaga on 25, 26 and 27
September 2019.
Schedule

15 May 2019 – deadline for submitting papers (regular papers, short papers and
posters)
15 June 2019 – deadline for submitting abstracts 
25 June 2019 – author notification (regular papers, short papers, posters and
abstracts)
10 July 2019 – deadline for camera-ready versions of regular papers
10 July 2019 – early bird registration fee ends
10 August 2019 – deadline for camera-ready versions of short and poster papers
25-27 September 2019 – EUROPHRAS 2019 conference

EUROPHRAS 2019 invites four types of submissions: regular papers, short
papers, poster papers and abstracts.

- Regular papers should not exceed 15 pages including references; their
minimum length is 12 pages. All accepted regular papers will be published in a
Springer LNAI volume, which will be available at the time of the conference.
Regular papers must be written in English. Participants presenting regular
papers can also benefit from post-EUROPHRAS 2019 publication opportunities
(please see conditions below).
- Short papers should not exceed 7 pages excluding references; they should be
at least 5 pages long. All accepted short papers will be published in
conference e-proceedings with an ISBN identifier and will also be made
available at the time of the conference. Short papers can be written in either
English or Spanish. Participants presenting short papers at the conference can
also benefit from post-EUROPHRAS 2019 publication opportunities (please see
conditions below).
- Poster papers should not exceed 4 pages excluding references. All accepted
papers for posters will be included in the conference e-proceedings alongside
short papers. Poster papers can be written in either English or Spanish.
Participants presenting posters at the conference can also benefit from
post-EUROPHRAS 2019 publication opportunities (please see conditions below).
- In line with the tradition of previous EUROPHRAS conferences, abstracts
about 500 words excluding references will be also considered for oral
presentation at the conference. The submission deadline for abstracts will be
one month later than the rest of the submissions and they can be written in
either English or Spanish. The accepted abstracts will not be published in the
Springer volume or the e-proceedings which will be available at the time of
the conference, but as aforementioned, their authors can benefit from
post-EUROPHRAS 2019 publication opportunities (please see conditions below).

Post-conference publication opportunities:

After the EUROPHRAS 2019 event, we shall start working on a volume to be
published by John Benjamins, which has already been agreed with the publisher.
We shall launch an open call inviting submissions related to computational and
corpus-based phraseology. In addition, and as aforementioned, authors of
accepted abstracts will be encouraged to send a full-length paper. Authors of
EUROPHRAS 2019 regular, short or poster papers will also have the opportunity
to write up and submit a paper describing the continuation/more advanced stage
/completion of their project. Their new submissions, if based on their
conference work, will have to be substantially revised paper (identical or
near-to-identical papers to those presented in Malaga will not be considered).
 

More post-conference publication opportunities include a volume in Spanish
with a publisher included in SPI-Scholarly Publishers Indicators (details will
be available on the conference website soon) and a special issue on
Multidiciplinary Analysis of Phraseological Variation in Translation and
Interpreting in the journal MonTI (Spanish and English) for papers discussing
this particular topic.

In all cases, the post-conference submissions will be peer-reviewed.
