Linguistic Field(s): Anthropological Linguistics; Applied Linguistics; Sociolinguistics

Call Deadline: 15-Jul-2019

Meeting Description:

crucial no presente e no futuro das linguas minorizadas.

do simposio «De neofalante potencial a falante activa dunha lingua minorizada»

2019.

Contaremos coa participación da Dra. Jacqueline Urla (University of
Massachusetts Amherst) como conferenciante plenaria.

Call for Papers:

Papers revolving around epistemological, theoretical, methodological and
political issues related to newspeakerness and the new speaker subject are
preffered, specially those focused on the symposium’s main topic: the
conversion processes of dominant language speakers who actively decide to join
the universe of minoritized languages. Our main purpose consists in
identifying, defining and problematizing the current historical moment, as
well as in providing answers to one central question: what are the necessary
conditions for mobilizing linguistic conversion to a minoritized language?

If you wish to apply for the symposium, we strongly encourage you to submit an
abstract with your proposal (max. 250 words, including references).

Send abstracts to neos at uvigo.gal
