Call for Papers:
Authors are invited to submit abstracts on their research, in English or
French, in any area of linguistics and especially papers on the conference
theme exploring new discoveries in the areas of metaphor in particular, or
figurative language in general viewed from the perspective of cognitive
linguistics. Graduate students are welcome. Presentations are 30 minutes (20
minutes for presentation and 10 for discussion).
Abstract Submissions:
Abstracts should be no more than 300 words, excluding title and references.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 30, 2019. Abstracts will be
peer-reviewed and replies sent as promptly as possible.
Please submit your anonymous abstract by email to APLA43 at unb.ca as an
attachment (preferably in MSWord or pdf). In the subject field of the email,
enter “APLA 43 Abstract”. In the body of the email, include:
1. Your name and affiliation
2. Email address, postal address, and phone number
3. The session the abstract is for (a) the conference theme or (b) other
aspects of linguistics (e.g. regional language varieties, computational
linguistics, semantics, phonology, syntax, etc.)
The registration fee for the conference is $100 ($60 for retired persons and
$40 for students). All presenters must be members of the Atlantic Provinces
Linguistic Association (APLA). The annual membership fee of $30 ($15 for
students) may be paid at the conference. For more information, please visit:
