Our Dictionaries business is a global leader/ innovator focused on unlocking
the power of language for lexical publishing and data licensing. We partner

computational semantics and natural language processing (NLP), and will
support our work in the "Prêt-à-LLOD project: Ready-to-use Multilingual Linked
Language Data for Knowledge Services across Sectors", funded by the European
Commission under the Horizon 2020 Programme. The project aims to exploit the
combination of linked data and language technologies in order to create
ready-to-use multilingual data and lay the foundations for a sustainable
ecosystem of NLP. In particular, the role involved defining and developing
systems for mapping lexical content at the sense level, both across
dictionaries and between dictionaries and corpus data.

We’re a diverse group of people and thrive by working collaboratively in
cross-functional Agile teams. OUP offers the unique opportunity to build
professional experience in a team that enjoys the advantages of working in a
start-up culture but in an organization with a long-standing reputation and a

- A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics or
similar; or several years of experience in the field
- Familiarity with the Semantic Web stack (RDF, OWL, SKOS; SPARQL; RDF/XML,
TURTLE, JSON-LD) and previous experience using it
- Experience with triplestore (e.g. GraphDB, Virtuoso, StarDog or similar) or
document-oriented databases (e.g. MongoDB, ElasticSearch or similar)
- Use of graph functionality, including querying and inference rules
- Familiarity with validating Linked Data – RDFUnit, SHACL, SPIN
- Experience in one or more NLP areas (POS tagging, lemmatization, parsing,
semantic analysis)
- Good programming skills in Python (some Java experience would also be
beneficial)

Benefits:
We offer a fair salary, 25 day’s holiday (plus bank holidays), pension
contributions to 11% and a 35-hour working week, along with the flexibility to
start and finish late or early as required. Your wellbeing’s really important
so we also have a wide range of facilities including; a canteen that serves a
wide variety of healthy and delicious meals, a subsidized onsite gym,
subsidized coffee shops. We believe this helps make OUP a great place to work,
and offers you a truly fantastic work/ life balance.

We believe that the skills you bring to OUP are just a starting point. We want
you to have the opportunity to expand your abilities, and to innovate and
develop in areas, which both interest you, and support your aspirations.
