Following the immense success of the CALA 2019, The Conference on Asian
Linguistic Anthropology 2019, in Cambodia, we announce The CALA 2020, February
5-8, 2020, at The University Putra Malaysia, Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Purpose and Structure - The CALA 2020 invites Linguists, Anthropologists,
Linguistic and Cultural Anthropologists, Culturologists, Sociologists,
Political Scientists, and those in related fields pertinent to Asia.

5-8, 2020

- Scientific Committee of over 100 academics globally prominent in Linguistic
Anthropology and related fields
Theme - Themed Asian Text, Global Context, The CALA 2020 will represent over
300 years of East-West global interaction, communication, and
transnationalism. Throughout, symbolisms of Asian 'texts' have been
significantly emphasized, (re)interpreted, contested, and distorted, while
employed for cultural and political purpose. Asian texts have become highly
representational, authenticating, and legitimizing sociopolitical and cultural
devices, and their potency should not be underestimated. Never have these
texts shown more significance than in the present, as their intensified use,
and their qualities in Asian identities long contested, seek this Linguistic
Anthropological exploration.
2nd Call for Papers:
Following the close of the first Call for Abstracts/Papers, and due to a
barrage of requests, we announce the Second and Final Call for Papers for The
(SCOPUS Indexed) CALA (The International Conference on Asian Linguistic
Anthropology) 2020, February 5-8, 2020, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Bintulu
Campus, Sarawak, Malaysia. This second Call will close in three months, August
23. The Call is also at the link: http://cala2020.upm.edu.my, which contains
all information.
Purpose and Structure - Over 300 scholars globally will gather to present
papers and to engage in progressive discussion on the Linguistic Anthropology,
and Language and Society, and related fields, pertinent to Asia. The CALA is
fully Non-Profit, and all publishing with the JALA (its scholarly journal) is
free, refusing to implement a pay to publish system. The CALA sources
funding/grants to assist people who need funding to access the Conference.The
Conference proceedings will be indexed with SCOPUS and will hence contribute
to ranked and cited publications for all those accepted to present, as well as
directing papers to Top Tier Journal Publication Special Issues.

Date - February 5-8, 2020
Theme - Asian Text, Global Context, a theme currently very pertinent to Asian
regions and countries vis-a-vis their global analogues.

Call for Abstracts Closing Date - August 23, 2019
Publications - Several Special (Top-Tier/Scopus/ISI/ACHI/SSCI) Journal issues
and monographs are planned with well ranked publishers only, from papers
submitted to the CALA 2020, that meet the requirements of review. Ample
assistance is provided to revise papers.
Abstract Submissions - The Call for Abstracts is now open until August 23,
