Description:
The Department of Writing and Language Studies invites applications for a
full-time tenure track assistant professor in Applied Linguistics/TESL to
begin Fall 2020.
The department is particularly interested in applicants with teaching and
research interests in one or more of the following areas: L2 pedagogy, L2
writing, L2 technology, and World Englishes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching diverse ESL/EFL student
populations, experience with online course delivery, and an interest in
research related to or drawing from the linguistic resources of the Rio Grande
Valley region.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the English
degree and ESL minor, teach and supervise graduate students in the MA ESL and
MA English programs, conduct research and carry out service responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics (or closely related field) from an accredited
institution of higher education. ABDs may be considered, but a conferred
doctorate by September 1, 2020 is required for appointment.
- Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching.
- Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in research/scholarship.
