Description:
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Montana
invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor
level in the area of Spanish Linguistics/Pedagogy. Responsibilities include
teaching undergraduate courses (beginning, intermediate, and advanced),
coordinating the first-year Spanish program (which includes on-line courses),
advising, and departmental duties. Although the specialization in Hispanic
Linguistics/Pedagogy is open (Spanish Applied Linguistics, Pedagogy, Second
Language Acquisition, Spanish Morphology/Syntax and/or Phonology), the
position requires keeping an active research agenda.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a PhD
- Possess native or near-native command of Spanish and English
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship
The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of
professionalism and collaboration, work on continuous improvement of educator
preparation and educational research, demonstrate exceptional ability to
function as part of a team with university faculty and the community, and
engage in practices that support the University of Montana’s focus on student
engagement and active learning.
