Meeting Description:
The Canadian Society for the Study of Names (CSSN) and the Canadian
Association of Hispanists (CAH) welcome abstract proposals on any onomastic
theme in the Spanish-speaking world, including but not limited to:
- Personal names (e.g. family names, nicknames, naming trends and systems,
etc.)
- Place names (e.g. streets, settlements, rural names, rivers, etc.)
- Names in literature
- Names in society (e.g. identity, power, perceptions, attitudes, forms of
address, etc.)
- Names and linguistic landscape (e.g. public road signs, advertising
billboard signs, street signs, commercial shop signs, etc.)
Call for Papers:
Proposal submission process:
1. Abstracts of 150-250 words should be sent as an email attachment (word or
PDF format) to Grace Gomashie (ggomashi at uwo.ca) and Dr. Lauren Beck
(lbeck at mta.ca).
2. Proposals should include “Onomastics” in the subject line of the email.
3. All submissions must include an abstract title, the full name(s) of the
author(s), the author affiliation, mailing address and email address in the
body of the abstract.
4. DEADLINE: Proposals must be received by January 25, 2020.
5. Contributors selected for the sessions must be members of both CSSN and ACH
in order to present their papers.
6. Abstracts may be submitted in English, French or Spanish.
