Description:

Assistant Professor of Second Language Studies:
The University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Second Language Studies,
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant to early Associate Professor
with specialization in Second Language Testing & Assessment, position number
83082. Appointment to begin Fall 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels focused on second
language testing & assessment;
- Teach in other areas of the Department's curriculum as appropriate;
- Mentor undergraduate & graduate students;
- Engage in research in second language testing & assessment; and 
- Undertake service to the Department and the University.

Minimum Qualifications, Assistant Professor rank:
- PhD or equivalent in second language studies, applied linguistics, or
closely related field from a college or university of recognized standing;
- Applicants must be at least ABD at time of application, and evidence must be
provided that all requirements for the degree will be completed by August
2020;
- Demonstrated ability to carry out research in the applicant's major area of
specialization, as evidenced by publications;
- Demonstrated success in teaching; and 
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially.

Minimum Qualifications, Associate Professor rank:
- PhD or equivalent in second language studies, applied linguistics, or
closely related field from a college or university of recognized standing;
- Demonstrated ability to carry out research in the applicant's major area of
specialization, as evidenced by publications;
- Minimum of four years of full-time university teaching at the rank of
assistant professor or equivalent, with demonstrated success in teaching and
increasing professional maturity, scholarly achievement comparable with peers
active in the same field at major research universities;
- Continued evidence of active participation in the scholarly and academic
affairs of a university and/or professional society.

Desirable Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in program evaluation, quantitative research methods,
and/or second language reading.
