Level: MA / MSc
Duties: Research
Specialty Areas: Psycholinguistics; Semantics; Syntax
Description:
The Tübingen Collaborative Research Center 833 “Constitution of Meaning” is
looking to fill research position as part of Project B8 “Position and
Interpretation: Syntactic, Semantic and Information Structural Constraints in
Processing Adjuncts” (PI: Prof. Dr. Britta Stolterfoht). Earliest start date
is December 1, 2019. Funding ends June 30, 2021, payment is according to E
13TV-L, 65%.
The project investigates adjuncts at the syntax-semantics interface from a
processing perspective. The goal is to establish an elaborate model of adjunct
processing. We will focus on (i) crosslinguistic variation, (ii) semantic
modelling of position-dependent interpretation differences, and (iii) the role
of context in the time course of processing adjuncts. Further information can
be found here:

The ideal candidate has a relevant university degree or PhD (e.g., linguistics
or psychology) and a solid background in syntax and semantics. Background in
psycholinguistics as well as a genuine interest in in modelling semantic
processing will be of advantage. The opportunity for independent research in
relation to a dissertation or habilitation is guaranteed.
Equally qualified applicants with disabilities will be given preference. The
University seeks to raise the number of women in research and teaching and
therefore urges qualified women academics to apply for these positions.
Applicants should send a cover letter, a CV and a research statement as well
as relevant documentation by mail or email in a single PDF file by November 8,
2019 to Prof. Dr. Britta Stolterfoht, Wilhelmstraße 50, 72074 Tübingen,
britta.stolterfoht at uni-tuebingen.de. The employment will be carried out by the
central administration of the University of Tübingen.
