Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Cognitive Science; Computational Linguistics; Neurolinguistics
Meeting Description:
We are entering a new era of innovation in which Linguistics, Neuroscience and
AI are going to reshape traditional industries like healthcare, business, and
communication. It is an exciting future, but also poses new ethical and
workflow challenges. Such technologies require broad expertise landscapes and
an interdisciplinary view of the field: scientists, uncovering the human
physiology and behaviour, linguistic included; techmakers, developing new
algorithms and applications; businesses, responding to consumer demands; and
investors, empowering innovative projects. These stakeholders speak very
different “languages” and the information is often “lost in translation”. Our
aim is to facilitate their dialogue by bringing the key players together and
helping them to understand each other better through scientific talks and
hands-on workshops to bridge the gap between academia and industry - dozens of
cogni-scientific innovations, panel discussions, and a brain-computer
interface workshop for the curious.
For this reason, we are launching the Brainstorms Conference and
Festival-of-Hands-On-Knowledge, a two-day event, where all-niche scientists,
start-ups, investors, and the curious minds can mingle, learn, and discuss
what is currently in the making, and what the future will look like when it is
jointly created by the impetus of the curious minds.
