Meeting Description:
The conference “German Abroad 4,” the follow-up conference to prior
conferences in Vienna (2014), Austin (2016), and Erfurt (2018), focuses on
structural and sociolinguistic issues of German-speaking minority groups from
the perspectives of variationist sociolinguistics, language contact, and
multilingualism. The focus of the conference is on German-speaking minorities
in the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, but contributions focusing
on other language contact situations involving German-speaking minority groups
are also welcome.
Conference languages: English and German.
Die Konferenz “German Abroad 4” fokussiert system- und soziolinguistische
Besonderheiten deutschsprachiger Sprachminderheiten aus den Perspektiven der
Variationslinguistik sowie der Sprachkontakt- und Mehrsprachigkeitsforschung.
Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Sprachminderheiten in Nord- und Südamerika,
Asien, Europa, Afrika und Ozeanien, aber Vorträge zu anderen
(Sprach)kontaktsituationen sind auch willkommen. Dies ist die
Nachfolgekonferenz der anderen Konferenzen “German Abroad,” welche in Wien
(2014), Austin (2016) und Erfurt (2018) stattfanden.
Konferenzsprachen: Englisch und Deutsch.
Call for Papers:
German Abroad 4 Conference
Location: Windhoek, Namibia
Dates: March 25-27, 2020
Talks will be allotted 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.
Abstracts should be approximately 300 words (excluding references) and may be
submitted to german.abroad.4 at gmail.com.
Deadline for abstract submission: November 20, 2019.
Notification: December 15, 2019.
