Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics
Subject Language(s): Romanian (ron)
Call Deadline: 15-Oct-2020
Meeting Description:
This Workshop will be held as part of the twentieth International Colloquium
of the Department of Linguistics: Romanian Language-modernity and continuity
in linguistics research (Bucharest, 20-21 November 2020) organized by the
Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest. The workshop will take place in
collaboration with the Oxford University ISTROX project.
The broad scope of the workshop allows a two-pronged approach: linguistic
research on Istro-Romanian and the methodology of conserving Istro-Romanian.
On the linguistic side, we are open not only to traditional research topics
(the phonetic system and sound change, morphological variation, the particular
structure of the Istro-Romanian lexicon, bilingualism) but also to neglected
or underexplored areas (interface phenomena such as phonology/morphology,
morphology/syntax, syntactic variation and microvariation, grammaticalization,
discourse and pragmatic issues). On the conservation side, we are interested
in hearing the results of recent dialectological surveys in Istria and in the
feasibility of an integrated and thematically diverse electronic corpus and
the role that can be played by complementary methods, such as
community-sourcing.
Call for Papers:
Each presentation will last 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for discussion.
