Subject: A New Book on Afrikaans Linguistics (scheduled for 2022)
To try to ensure that a new textbook we aim to write, provisionally titled
Contemporary Afrikaans Linguistics (CAL), is a useful resource, it is
important for us as editors to be sure about two questions before we get
underway with the project:
a) who is the likely target audience (undergraduate or postgraduate students,
linguists, interested laypeople, language learners, etc.)
b) what kind of background knowledge do they have.
We don’t want to underestimate our target audience’s existing background
knowledge. Knowing more about it would help our authors greatly in working out
how to structure and write their chapters.
Bearing this in mind, we would like to initiate this project with some basic
market research, and we would be very grateful to you if you could help us
with your answers to a few questions. We very much hope you will be able to
help us!
All that is required is that you complete the short questionnaire by 16
September 2020 at the latest if at all possible.

Your response will only be viewed by the editors, and it will not be used for
any other purpose than the basic market research outlined above.
The questionnaire should not require more than 10 minutes to complete.
However, please be as specific as you can.
Advanced thanks and best wishes,
Editors:

University of the Western Cape, SA)
