Description:
The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to
appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in Syntax on a full time, fixed-term
contract for a period of 24 months. The salary will be at grade UOE7 (£33,
797- £40, 322).
We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in
comparative syntax to contribute to an AHRC/DFG-funded project on locality,
the argument/adjunct distinction, and the A/A’-distinction, to join the
project “Locality and the Argument-Adjunct Distinction: Structure-building vs.
Structure-enrichment”, jointly funded by the Arts and Humanities Research
Council and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
This collaborative project will run concurrently in Edinburgh (UK Principal
Investigator: Dr. Rob Truswell), Berlin (German Principal Investigator Dr.
Thomas McFadden + 1 Postdoctoral Researcher), and Göttingen (German
Co-Investigator Prof. Hedde Zeijlstra + Postdoctoral Researcher Sandhya
Sundaresan).
The ideal candidate will be adept at working both independently and as part of
a large international team, and will also have expertise in collecting and
analysing comparative syntactic judgement data and in theory construction in
syntax and related areas.
