Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK’s leading research-focused

The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film at Queen Mary University of
London is looking to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in Linguistics with a
formal linguistics speciality for the period 01 September 2020 – 30 June 2022.
The appointment will augment the teaching curriculum in linguistics, with
modules offered in particular within the area of syntax and related areas of
formal linguistics. The post holder will be expected to deliver high-quality
teaching, assessment, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate
(taught) students, and to contribute to the life of the Department and the
School more widely, for instance by participating in relevant postgraduate
reading groups and seminars, and by undertaking appropriate administrative and
advisory duties. This is a fixed-term replacement of teaching and
administrative duties as the current incumbent has been awarded a Leverhulme
Trust Major Research Fellowship for the period.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent in Linguistics and
have experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as
well as clear and ambitious plan for future scholarship activities.
The post is full time and fixed term until 31 August 2022, with an expected
start date of 1st September 2020. Starting salary will be £42,433 per annum.
Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season
ticket loan.
The post is available as a Teaching and Scholarship contract, and therefore
does not include a research element.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in
accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where
required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under
the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
