Meeting Description:

The conference aims to bring together postgraduate students to present and
discuss current research, results and problems from any field of linguistics.


Call for Papers:

This is the first Call for Papers for LangUE 2020 at the University of Essex
which will be held on Thursday 11th June 2020. The conference aims to bring
together postgraduate students to present and discuss current research,
results and problems from any field of linguistics.

Participation:

Participation is for either a 20-min oral Presentation or a Poster and the
deadline for abstract submissions is Monday 10 February 2020 by 17:00 GMT.

submissions will be accepted and that all abstracts should be in accordance
with the formatting guidelines as mentioned here:

Submission Guidelines:

All the following guidelines apply to abstracts for both oral presentations
and poster presentations, except where otherwise stated. 

* The deadline for submission of abstracts is Monday 10 February 2020 (17:00
UK time). Electronic submissions only;

* You need to register and create an account for EasyChair.  
* Please mention in the title field whether your abstract is to be considered
for a Presentation or a Poster,  e.g. Poster: Title of Your Abstract.
* Your abstract must be in pdf. format. In addition, you should make sure that
your abstract conforms to the formatting guidelines below. 
* Please send an anonymised copy of your abstract file to the above link. The
copy should be anonymous (title and abstract text only). If you get accepted,
we will contact you to provide more details. 

Abstract Formatting Guidelines:

Your abstract should be no more than 400 words in length, including
references. 
Please format the page as follows:
 
* line spacing: 1.5 
* all margins: 2.5cm (1 inch) 
* text alignment: justified 
* title text: Times New Roman, 14pt, bold, centered (NB: this should include
name and affiliation on the named abstract file) 
* body text: Times New Roman, 12pt 
* paragraphs: do not indent; leave one clear line between paragraphs
 
Abstract Review and Acceptance:

All abstracts which conform to the above guidelines will be anonymously
reviewed by two reviewers. Once the review process is complete, you will be
notified by the organising committee if your abstract has been accepted for
oral or poster presentation. 

Accepted abstracts will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes
for discussion. There will be a dedicated poster session on the day of the
conference. 

Proceedings:

All those who present their work at the LangUE 2020 will be invited to submit
to the “Proceedings of the LangUE”. Submissions must be emailed to
langue at essex.ac.uk by 25 June 2020.
