Meeting Description:
The annual ISHS conference that will be held at the University of Bologna’s
Summer Residence at Bertinoro, Italy is scheduled from 29 June to 3 July,
2020.
The conference aims at a representative overview of the state of the art in
the scientific study of humor; it offers five days of networking possibilities
with humor scholars from a wide variety of disciplines in a medieval hamlet
with breathtaking landscapes.
Call for Papers:
Registration will open early in December.
Abstracts will only be considered once registration has been completed.
The deadline for submitting an abstract is March 1, 2020.

Abstracts:
We welcome proposals in all areas of humor scholarship.
Abstracts dealing with any aspect of the conference theme are invited.
Abstracts should be 250 words long and are expected to follow academic
conventions. Please provide three key words to facilitate scheduling of the
sessions.
Presentations will last 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions from
the floor.
Panel Proposals:
Panel proposals should include the names of all panelists, a short abstract
introducing the theme of the panel and showing how the different papers are
linked to the overall theme. An abstract for each individual presentation is
required.
Each panel session will run for 90 minutes including all speakers and
questions from the floor. The panel convenor may decide allocation of time and
speakers within the 90 minutes.
