We are seeking to appoint a part time (0.5 FTE) Teaching Associate in
Phonetics from 1 October 2020 for 26 months. The successful candidate should
hold a Ph.D. in Phonetics.
The Temporary Teaching Associate will be expected to teach Phonetics on
undergraduate Linguistics Tripos papers at introductory, intermediate and
advanced levels, as well as contribute to teaching and supervision of MPhil
students. Teaching will include lectures, seminars, supervisions and practical
sessions (including IPA production and ear training, and acoustic phonetic
analysis). The successful candidate will also be expected to take an active
part in general Departmental administration and examining. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills are also essential.
The closing date for applications is midnight (GMT) on Sunday 19 July 2020 and
interviews are planned for 30-31 July 2020, subject to change. It is expected
that the interview will conducted virtually, using Microsoft Teams.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to carry out a practical transcription
exercise and to give a teaching presentation prior to interview.
