Department:
The Department of Language & Linguistic Science is seeking to appoint a
Lecturer in Language Development (child language) to contribute to research
and teaching from 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post
is full-time.
Role:
You will play a full part in the research, teaching, supervision and
administration of the Department, with particular responsibility for teaching
and supervising in child language development on our English language,
linguistics and psycholinguistics programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels. You will also develop research objectives, projects and proposals and
carry out individual or collaborative research projects as well as lead on
and/or contribute to the production and dissemination of research outputs and
research outcomes.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:
You are an early to mid-career teacher and researcher, with a PhD in
Linguistics, Psychology, or closely related field, who is establishing, or has
established, a track record of high quality empirical research and are
committed to excellence in teaching and supervision. We encourage applications
from scholars with a variety of perspectives on language development who can
engage with both usage-based, emergentist approaches and formal approaches. We
particularly welcome research and teaching interests in one or more of the
following areas, as related to language development: bilingualism;
multilingualism; child phonetics or phonology; child morphology; child syntax,
semantics and pragmatics; word learning; computational modelling of language
development; interaction and child language; language and memory; multimodal
approaches to language development.
