PhD course 'The political economy of language and space/place'

Focus: The course is structured into three parts: a reading period (approx. mid-July to beginning of September), a 3-day workshop in Gothenburg (14-16 of September), and a writing period with a deadline for submitting a final essay on October 30.
The workshop will run from 9 am on Monday 14 of September to 5 pm on Wednesday 16 of September, and includes talks by the invited lecturers, presentations by the attending students, and discussions.
Invited lecturers: Adam Jaworski, Luisa Martín Rojo, Alfonso del Percio, Kellie Gonçalves, Jackie Jia Lou, Sari Pietikäinen and Helen Kelly-Holmes.
Minimum Education Level: MA
Special Qualifications:
PhD project in course.
Description:
This PhD course will be given in conjunction with the 12th Linguistic
Landscape Workshop, with a physical meeting in Gothenburg 14-16 September
2020. The course will cover different aspects of the political economy of
language in relation to a variety of arenas and processes - not only
linguistic landscapes but also tourism, gentrification, commodification,
digitization, racism, segregation and social protests.
