Call Deadline: 01-Jun-2020
Meeting Description:
Note: The conference has been delayed from May to September due to COVID-19.
The First Conference on the Endangered Languages of East Asia will be held
from September 2 to September 3, 2020 and hosted by the Department of Asian
and North African Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy.
The scope of the Conference is on any indigenous, endangered, or minority
language that is spoken in the territories of Japan, China, Korea, the Russian
Far-East, Mongolia, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Contributions dealing with
any aspect of the official or main languages spoken in these territories (e.g.
Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.), as well as of the dialects and varieties of
these languages, fall out of the scope of the Conference and will not be
considered.
Call for Papers:
Abstracts are invited for 20-minute presentations (plus 10-minute discussion)
and for posters on any area of descriptive linguistics including phonetics,
phonology, morphosyntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The overall topic for this
first meeting of CELEA is language obsolescence - all contributions are
expected to comply with this general topic and present some descriptive data
on language obsolescence, regardless of the area of linguistics dealt with.
Please note that the Conference, originally planned for May 2020, has been
delayed due to the COVID-19 epidemics and the new deadline for abstract
submission is now June 1, 2020.
Abstracts should be anonymous (no name/surname nor affiliation). Abstracts
