Subject: Non-lexicalised bare diminuties in emotive context

Hello:

I am a linguist, devoting over 15 years to the study of silence as a means of
expression.

I turn to you colleagues for examples of non-lexicalised bare diminutives, in
spontaneous authentic interactions (such as daily interactions or clinical
settings) as well as fictive (films, plays and literary works) carrying
emotive meanings.

There are many examples of lexicalised forms, such as hypocoristics or
vocatives ('ma', 'sis') for affection or for pejoratives (damn). Also there
are many examples in English (Schneider 2003) and in other languages (e.g.
Volek 1987 Russian) for affixation, but what I am looking for are
non-lexicalised bare truncated English productions, which in the context of
emotive load the reduction of form iconically communicates smallness affection
or belittling-dismissal.

Needless to mention that I would provide a summary of the information you
provide and also credit accordingly in any use I make of this information in
my publication (coming monograph on Silence as Language).
