Description:
The Department of English Linguistics at the University of Braunschweig –
Institute of Technology (Germany) invites applications for two PhD or Postdoc
positions in English Linguistics (f/m/d) (German pay scale TV-L E13, 50%)
starting October 1, 2021.
The positions are for three years, subject to a successful evaluation of
progress at the end of the first year. Salaries range from 24k to 30k Euros
per year depending on the applicant's experience.
We are looking for candidates with backgrounds and interests that link up to
the main research areas in English Linguistics at the TU Braunschweig, namely,
psycholinguistics and/or bi-/multilingualism. We particularly welcome
applications from candidates with additional knowledge in core areas of
theoretical linguistics.
The department has experimental facilities including remote eye-trackers
suitable for reading and Visual World studies and reaction-time computers.

The successful candidates may pursue a PhD degree or Habilitation. The
candidates will teach English-language seminar courses in (English)
linguistics, ranging from two 45-minute sessions to four 45-minute sessions
per week in each 14-week semester, depending on the type of position.
Applicants should:
- have an excellent MA degree or equivalent in a subject related to (English)
linguistics and/or the PhD project (for PhD positions, 50%, TV-L E13)
- have an excellent PhD degree or equivalent in a subject related to (English)
linguistics (for post-doc positions, 50%, TV-L E13)
- have advanced English skills
- have demonstrable teaching and team working skills
Knowledge of German, previous teaching experience, knowledge of statistics and
experience in lab-based and/or empirical research are desirable.

- a letter of motivation
- a CV
- copies of all previous degrees including detailed transcripts of records
- contact information of two academic letters of reference (one from the
supervisor of the BA/MA/PhD thesis or equivalent)
- a summary of the MA/PhD thesis or equivalent
- optional: a research proposal for the dissertation project in the relevant
areas including a time schedule (five A4 ages max.).
