Subject: Survey on Open Access Practices in Sociolinguistics and Related Disciplines
Dear friends and colleagues,
I'd like to draw your attention to a survey on open access practices that my
colleagues Emily Farrell, Dorothea Horst and I put together in order to help
us better understand the challenges and opportunities relating to open access
publishing in sociolinguistics and related disciplines. Publishing research
open access is often regarded as emancipatory, allowing for a democratic
distribution of knowledge. But does it really impact on whose voices are heard
in linguistic academia? Does open access publishing impact on traditional
academic hierarchies or does it imply new forms of gatekeeping?
People with experience in open access publishing but also scholars with little
expertise in practices and discourses surrounding open access are kindly
invited to participate in the survey and to share it within their networks.
To participate, follow the link
https://evasys.europa-uni.de/evasys/online.php?p=Open_Acess
To read more about the motivation and backgrounds of the study, see here
https://www.languageonthemove.com/open-research-in-language-and-society/
We would be very grateful if you participate in the survey and also if you
could share it with colleagues!
Thank you and best regards,
Britta Schneider
