Description:
The English Department of the University of Freiburg (Germany) invites
applications for a temporary (3+3 years) post-doctoral position in English
linguistics (full time), to be filled from 1 April 2022. The appointment is
for three years and can be extended for another three years. The position will
be assigned to the team lead by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Bernd Kortmann and involves
a teaching load of four weekly contact hours.
Applicants are expected to hold a very good PhD degree in English linguistics
and have a functionalist or usage-based research profile in at least two of
the following areas: English morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics,
dialectology, sociolinguistics. Furthermore, applicants are expected to
exhibit a high level of corpus-linguistic and statistical expertise. We
encourage all applicants to submit a concrete and specific outline (4 to 6
pages) of a research project in one of these areas.
