Meeting Description:

The UC Davis Cluster on Language Research is pleased to announce the Seventh
Annual Symposium on Language Research at UC Davis. The purpose of this
symposium is to showcase current investigations on language, and to cultivate
a community of language researchers from various institutions. We welcome a
wide array of linguistic topics across all disciplines related to the study of
language, as it is our goal to create an open and inclusive symposium which
promotes dialogue between all types of language research.

Eligibility: All graduate and undergraduate students, lecturers, postdoctoral
and visiting scholars currently investigating language in some capacity are
encouraged to submit their research, preliminary or otherwise.

Call for Papers:

Call for Abstracts is now open. Call deadline: 26-Mar-2021

If you are interested in presenting, please submit an abstract of no more than
300 words in .pdf format to www.languagecluster.com/Submit. Do not include any
identifying information in your abstract or file name. Each presentation is
limited to 15 minutes, plus an additional five minutes for questions. Panel
submissions only need to fill out one application form, must include three
presentations, and must provide a brief justification as to why they form a
cohesive panel. Each abstract, unless requested otherwise, will be considered
for the Most Innovative Research Award. To be considered for the award, you
must currently be enrolled at a post-secondary institution and submit your
abstract by March 26, 2021. This year, we will be presenting two awards, one
to a graduate student presenter and one to an undergraduate student presenter.

Students (undergraduate and graduate) conducting any language-related research
are also encouraged to join the Three-Minute Thesis Competition, a contest
designed to encourage participants to explain the fundamental points of their
work in a manner accessible to a general audience. The application form asks
you to provide a short and engaging description of your talk (200-300 words).
The deadline to join is on March 26, 2021. This year the 3M Thesis will be
done asynchronously via pre recorded videos.
