Description:
A full-time, fixed term 19 month post (initially) for a Postdoctoral
Researcher with expertise in child language acquisition is available in
Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will join the ERC-funded project “Syntax shaped by
cognition: transforming theories of syntactic systems through laboratory
experiments” (Principal Investigator: Dr Jennifer Culbertson). This project
aims to explore and formalize the cognitive forces that shape natural language
syntax. The project has been running since 2018 and has successfully uncovered
novel evidence of learning biases in adults, using artificial language
learning experiments. The post holder will collaborate with the team to
investigate such biases in children.
