Meeting Description:

Seminar Objectives: 
 - To promote the values and practices of research synthesis in applied
linguistics and language education in advancing research and research-practice
dialogues;
 - To discuss methodological traditions and issues of conducting different
types of research synthesis (e.g., meta-analysis, qualitative research
evidence);
 - To facilitate interdisciplinary dialogues with research synthesists in
other social sciences disciplines (e.g., education); and
 - To host a preliminary meeting and spread the word for a proposed BAAL SIG,
Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics.


Call for Papers: 

We are calling for papers from researchers working in the fields of Applied
Linguistics and Language Education interested in methodologies and
applications of research syntheses. By ''research synthesis'', we refer to
both ''systematic'' and ''traditional'' research synthesis. Types of research
synthesis we focus on include:
 - Critical review
 - Meta-analysis
 - Methodological review
 - Mixed review
 - Narrative review
 - Overview
 - Qualitative research synthesis
 - Research agenda
 - Research into practice
 - Scoping review
 - State-of-the-art review
 - Systematic literature review

We are particularly interested in papers which (1) advance our methodological
understandings of conducting various types of research synthesis in Applied
Linguistics and Language Education and/or (2) discuss ways research synthesis
inform practice and policy making. 

All submissions will be subject to rigorous peer review, and there are limited
number of presentation slots available. There will be a limit of one
presentation per presenter. Presenters need to be registered for the event in
order to present. 

Contributors will be asked to submit the title of your proposed presentation,
name(s) of presenter(s), and an extended abstract of not more than 500 words
(including references) here:
