Description:
The Department of Linguistics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks
applicants for an Assistant Professor of Practice position in General
Linguistics. This is a variable time, term, non-tenure-track faculty position
beginning on August 16, 2021. The teaching load is variable per semester
(generally 3-4 courses per semester) based on need and includes teaching
undergraduate/graduate-level combined courses. This faculty member teaches a
broad range of courses in Linguistics that complement the expertise of other
faculty in the department, including courses offered to the general
undergraduate population of the university, undergraduate majors and minors in
Linguistics, and graduate (MA) students in Linguistics and TESOL. Specifics of
course assignments are dependent on curricular need and the areas of expertise
of the faculty member hired. Duties may include minor service within the
department, including mentoring of students and participation in departmental
committees.
Minimum qualifications:
- PhD in Linguistics or a closely related field.
