About the Role:
The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint a
Predoctoral Research Assistant on the project project 'the Systematicity and
Variation in Word Structure Processing Across Languages: a Neuro-Typology
approach (SAVANT)' ESRC funded research project, specifically on the Bangla
element of the project. The post is full-time, fixed-term from May 3rd 2021 or
as soon thereafter as possible and available due to research grant funding.
About You:
You will be joining the Systematicity and Variation in Word Structure
Processing Across Languages: a Neuro-Typology Approach (SAVANT) ESRC funded
research project, specifically the Bangla element of the project. The post
holder will work closely with the PI, Dr. Linnaea Stockall, and with the
project co-Investigators in Slovenia, the United Arab Emirates and the United
States of America, in particular with Co-I Dr. Dustin Alfonso Chacón, Research
Scientist at NYU Abu Dhabi.
The post holder will receive training and mentorship to enable them to make
significant contributions to designing, running, analysing and disseminating a
series of planned Bangla behavioural, MEG and EEG studies, and for working
collaboratively with the other researchers on the grant across the research
sites. The post-holder will also contribute to the planning and delivery of an
outreach program involving children from local schools who will be invited to
learn how they can design and carry out psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic
research on the languages in their lives. The post is best suited to a
candidate seeking advanced training and hands-on experience in
psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic research prior to pursing a PhD in this
area.
