Description:
The Class of Language Education, belonging to the Graduate School Language &
Literature at LMU Munich, Germany, offers a 4-Year Scholarship provided by the
DAAD-GSSP-Programme.
Besides, a membership in the Class of Language Education offers a
research-oriented and interdisciplinary curriculum, intensive individual
supervision of dissertation projects from a team of supervisors. Professors
from German and English language education, as well as romance and classical
languages, present a wide spectrum of theoretical positions, research
methodology approaches, and practical applications.
The interdisciplinarity of the courses offered focuses on the processes and
results of teaching and learning language, literature, and culture in first,
second, and foreign languages, both in school and outside school contexts.
Dissertation projects can deal with historical, theoretical, or empirical
questions in language, literature, or media didactics, as well as classroom
research.
Furthermore, doctoral candidates in the Class of Language Education will
receive an interesting workshop and presentation program with guest
researchers, chances to gain key qualifications, multiple opportunities for
theoretical exchange, as well as financial support for research and conference
travel.
Doctoral candidates in the Class of Language Education also have outstanding
opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation with doctoral candidates in
the other classes of the graduate school: the Class of Language, the Class of
Literature, and the Class of Culture and History.
