Description:

The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages is seeking to appoint a
Departmental Lecturer in Spanish and Portuguese Linguistics from 18 April 2022
until 17 July 2022.
 
The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of Portuguese and
Spanish linguistics for the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics
and the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages (within the Sub-Faculties of
Portuguese and Spanish) by offering 12 hours of lectures over the course of
the Trinity term. They will also be responsible during Full Term for providing
approximately 6 contact hours a week of undergraduate tuition in general
linguistics, Portuguese linguistics, Spanish linguistics, and translation from
and to Spanish.  A proportion of the tutorial teaching will be dedicated to
Oriel College. They will also act as Organizing Tutor in Linguistics and in
Spanish at Oriel College.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to give tutorials (small-group
teaching, typically of 2-3 students) to first-, second-, and fourth-year
undergraduates, and may be required to teach postgraduate students. The
undergraduate linguistics teaching involves tutorials in general linguistics,
Portuguese linguistics, and Spanish linguistics. Undergraduate language
teaching involves Spanish-English and English-Spanish translation.
 
Applicants must possess a good undergraduate degree in Portuguese and/or
Spanish linguistics, have the ability to teach at undergraduate levels, and
produce high-quality research within their own field of expertise.
