Job Title: Assistant Professor in Computational Language Science (Tenure Track)
Job Rank: Assistant Professor
Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics
Description:
The University of Florida Linguistics Department invites applications for a
tenure-track appointment in computational language science at the rank of
Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2022. This is a full-time,
nine-month, tenure-accruing position. Candidates should have an active
research agenda studying any aspect of language from a computational
perspective.
Specializations include, but are not limited to:
- computational linguistics,
- sociolinguistics,
- neuro/psycholinguistics,
- corpus linguistics,
- computational semantics,
- phonetics, and/or phonology.
UF has recently committed to a university-wide artificial intelligence
initiative along with a major super-computing collaboration with NVIDIA
(ai.ufl.edu). Thus, we particularly encourage applications from candidates
whose research explores artificial intelligence, natural language processing,
or computational algorithms, as well as their societal implications. The
latter may include issues of equity, bias, accountability, transparency, or
inclusivity. The Department of Linguistics seeks to train the next generation
of linguists who are comfortable integrating computational approaches into
their research in revealing and societally responsible ways. Ability to teach
computationally-oriented courses is required. Candidates must hold the Ph.D.
in linguistics, computer science, or a closely-related field by August 15,
2022. For more information about the position, visit the application link
below.
Submit application online at the application link below and include:
