Meeting Description:
The international conference ''Complex prepositions in French: Theories,
descriptions, applications'' will be held from September 30 to October 1 in
Toulouse (Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès). The conference aims to explore
multi-word expressions that are half-way between the lexicon and grammar such
as ''à travers'' ‘through’, ''au bord de'' ‘on the edge of’, ''en dépit de''
‘in spite of’, ''par rapport'' à ‘with respect to’, ''à l’instar de'' ‘like’,
''en ce qui concerne'' ‘concerning’, etc. Despite extensive research on the
topic, prepositions are still considered as a word class with fuzzy
boundaries, which is due to a range of factors: their morphological and
structural diversity, a wide variety of syntactic behaviors, a wealth of both
grammatical and lexical meanings, a wide spectrum of evolution paths, polysemy
and category membership ambiguity of many class members.
The conference will be held in hybrid format, both online and in-person at the
University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès, Toulouse, France.
Whether you wish to participate face-to-face or remotely, you must register by
2:00 pm September 29 on this website
(https://w3.colloquescprs.univ-tlse2.fr/spip.php?rubrique140&lang=fr). An
email with the meeting link will be sent out the day before the conference.
Program:
