Description:
The School of Critical Studies seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Phonetics, based
in the subject area of English Language & Linguistics, which is an
acknowledged leader in the analysis of speech, spoken communication and the
use of digital technologies for linguistic research. The postholder will
contribute to and expand the existing research strengths in the area of
phonetics, specialising in e.g. speech perception, speech prosody, or one of
the interfaces of phonetics with other disciplines, such as bilingualism,
discourse, natural language processing, or others. They will provide
research-led teaching provision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as
well as research supervision. This post will contribute to Glasgow’s ambitious
plans for future fundamental research that embeds Science within the Arts and
Humanities.
For appointment at Grade 7:
To undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge
exchange activities relative to the discipline, contribute to learning and
teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service
activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.
For appointment at Grade 8:
To develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international
standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by
delivering, organising and reviewing agreed teaching, assessment and
administration processes to enhance learning and teaching in the School of
Critical Studies.
