Meeting Description:
The International Association for Teaching Pragmatics (ITAP) is pleased to
announce the ITAP Spring Seminar 2022 which will be blended (online and at
University of Barcelona) on June 10, 2022.
The main theme of the seminar will be New Advances in L2 Pragmatics and
Technology. The following scholars have accepted to be the keynote speakers:
Dr Marta González-Lloret (University of Hawaii at Manoa)
Dr Maria Economidou Kogetsidis (University of Nicosia)
1. Seminar Presentation Types
Presentations must be in English and should address any of the subjects in the
list of topics below.
A) Individual oral presentations
These must be 20-minute oral presentations, followed by 10 minutes for
questions and discussion.
B) Workshops
These must be 20-minute hands-on sessions, followed by 10 minutes for
questions and discussion.
C) Ph.D. students’ oral presentations
These must be 20-minute oral presentations, followed by 10 minutes for
questions and discussion. This time slot will be devoted to Ph.D. students
that are currently carrying out their dissertations on pragmatics and
technology. In this session students will be able to share their current work
and also get feedback from well-known scholars in the field.
2. Seminar Topics
The presentations and workshops may include the following topics, but other
topics related to the seminar’s theme will be welcome:
- Discourse patterns in face-to-face and online communication.
- Effects of computer mediated communication (CMC) on L2 pragmatic learning.
- Effects of L2 pragmatic instruction on CMC.
- In-class and out-of-class digital tools that enhance pragmatic learning.
- Human-machine interaction in L2 pragmatics.
- New advances in digital tools.
3. Submissions
All proposals should be submitted via email:itap.association at gmail.com
Please make sure that your submission includes the following information:
Abstract no longer than 300 words. Please name this file “Abstract_Surname”
(format Word/pdf file, Times New Roman 12).
Data file containing the Author/s’ name(s) and affiliation(s), the title of
the paper, the type of submission (individual oral presentation, workshop or
PhD presentation), the e-mail address(es), and equipment required if the
presentation is intended to be at the University of Barcelona premises. Please
name this file “Data_Surname” (format Word/pdf file).
4. Important dates:

Notification of acceptance: May 1st, 2022
Registration: From May 1st to May 31st, 2022
