Description:
A permanent position of Associate Professor of Linguistics with a
specialization in Computational Linguistics is available at the Department of
Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies, University of Oslo.
The Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies is one of seven
departments at The Faculty of Humanities. The department conducts research,
teaching and dissemination in general linguistics, Nordic languages
(Scandinavian linguistics and Norwegian as a second language),
multilingualism, medieval studies (Norse and Celtic philology), Nordic
literature (including dissemination of literature and Ibsen-studies), and
rhetoric and verbal communication. Further information about the Department

Research in general linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and
Scandinavian Studies covers all of the discipline’s core areas (phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics), and a range of
methodological approaches, including fieldwork, corpus linguistics, and
experimental linguistics with a designated focus on the promotion of open
science. The Department seeks to recruit an Associate Professor with excellent
research qualifications who will contribute to strengthening the department’s
core competence. A special emphasis will be given to documented research
experience in computational linguistics.
The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead research, supervise
PhD and MA candidates, participate in teaching and in exam setting and
assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance
with the needs of the Department.
