Linguistic Field(s): Discourse Analysis
Meeting Description:
The Discourse Research Association of Ireland (DRAOI) is hosting our second
annual Summer Seminar Series!
This series follows on from the success of last year’s inaugural Summer
Seminar Series, which saw seven weeks of fascinating talks and discussions
preceded by an informal get-to-know-you event with DRAOI members. We are
delighted to once again offer this important networking and workshopping
opportunity for discourse researchers in Ireland, who study Irish discourses,
or who have some connection to Ireland.
We intend for DRAOI’s Summer Seminar Series to provide a welcoming, informal
space for discourse researchers at all stages of scholarship to share their
work, meet other discourse-oriented folks from different institutions and
departments, have productive discussions, receive feedback, and provide an
outlet for research-related events during the less busy summer months.
Program:
DRAOI Summer Seminar Series - SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENT
This summer, the Discourse Research Association of Ireland (DRAOI) is proud to
host nine seminars featuring some of the brilliant discourse researchers among
our membership. This year's program centres timely, critical research covering
a variety of important, contemporary topics, including political discourses,
abortion, gender, literacy, and homelessness.
The seminars will take place every Wednesday in July and August at 3:00 pm IST
(GMT+1). All talks will be facilitated virtually through Microsoft Teams. We
will send out joining links and individual abstracts for each talk in due
course to our mailing list. Please visit our website for more information
about DRAOI, the seminar series, and to sign up for the mailing list:
http://discourseresearch.ie/
Alternatively, you can email us with any queries:
discourseresearchireland at gmail.com
We aim for DRAOI seminars to be friendly, welcoming spaces for discourse
scholars at all career levels to learn from each other and engage in informal
discussions about discourse research. All are welcome at DRAOI seminars, free
of charge.
We hope you will be able to join us!
