Eva Wittenberg’s Language Comprehension Lab (lcl.ceu.edu) in the Department of
Cognitive Science at Central European University (CEU) invites applications
for a postdoc position. The initial contract is for one year with the
possibility of renewal.
As a postdoc in the Language Comprehension Lab, you will develop and implement
studies using eye-tracking or behavioral research methods to investigate
language comprehension in one of the following two research topics:
1. The relationship between language and event cognition
2. Cognitive approaches to the mental representation of linguistic varieties
Duties and responsibilities:
The position will allow the postdoc to focus on research and the development
of their own research program within the topics outlined above, without
teaching obligations. Duties include:
- Conceptual and technical development, data acquisition, and analysis of
experimental research
- Presentation at international conferences and through publications
- Training and co-supervision of doctoral students and/or student assistants
- Assistance in daily lab organization
- Participation in funding acquisition
Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a
related field (by starting date)
- Demonstrated research experience in one of the two areas of research
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Experience with experimental methods, including programming experiments
- Data processing and analysis skills (using R or Python)
Compensation:
The annual gross salary starts at 50,000 EUR. The actual final salary may be
higher depending on the seniority and level of expertise of the selected
candidate.
