Subject: Special Issue ''Historical dialectology'' (JHS)
The feasibility of a historical comparative dialectology is demonstrated by
numerous phonological studies. For syntax and morphology, however, we have
just begun to identify and analyze historical oral varieties using fine scaled
geolinguistic, statistical, and philological methods.
In a workshop at DGfS2022 we had the opportunity to see the current work of a
historical comparative dialect syntax and morphology (see
http://histdialectology.bplaced.net). As an outcome of this workshop a special
issue “Historical dialectology” is to be published in the Journal of
Historical Syntax (https://ojs.ub.uni-konstanz.de/hs/index.php/hs). The
deadline for submissions (first draft) will be August 31, 2022.
We invite submissions (500 word abstracts) until March 27 on syntax or
morphology from the perspective of historical dialectology. Please check the
program of the workshop: http://histdialectology.bplaced.net/ which is in line
with the aims of the special issue.
