Job Purpose: Grade 7/8
The School of Critical Studies seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in
Sociolinguistics (open-ended), based in the subject area of English Language &
Linguistics, which has world-leading strengths in research on language use in
its social context. This post has a particular focus on qualitative
sociolinguistics to complement our existing variationist approach and will
provide research-led teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as
well as research supervision. In particular, this post will develop and
strengthen synergies across the College of Arts in qualitative approaches to
language in society, World Englishes, applied linguistics and multilingualism,
feeding into Glasgow’s strategic theme of global challenges.
For appointment at Grade 7:
To undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge
exchange activities relative to the discipline, contribute to learning and
teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service
activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.
For appointment at Grade 8:
To develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international
standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by
delivering, organising and reviewing agreed teaching, assessment and
administration processes to enhance learning and teaching in the School of
Critical Studies.
The salary will be on the Research and Teaching Grade, level 7/8, £36,382 -
£40,927 / £44,706 - £51,799 per annum.
This post is on a full time (35 hrs per week), open ended basis.
