Meeting Description:
The online International Conference on Discourse Studies Across Disciplines
(ICDSAD), hosted by Sheikhbahaee University (Isfahan, Iran), will be held on
23-27 October 2022. We invite articles offering new insights into the
intersection of discourse studies and linguistics, translation studies,
teaching languages, politics, and education. The plenary lectures will be
delivered by Professor Teun A. van Dijk (Pompeu Fabra University, Spain),
Professor Piotr Cap (University of Lodz, Poland), Professor Steve Walsh
(University of Newcastle, England), and Professor Piotr Blumczynski (Queen's
University Belfast, Northern Ireland).
Call for Papers:
Abstracts of papers (up to 500 words including references) should be submitted
via the conference webpage (https://www.icdsad.ir/en/) by Tuesday, June 21,
2022. Abstracts should include research questions, a brief outline of
methodology and analytical methods, and any theoretical issues addressed, as
well as describing the data analysed. All papers will be allocated 15 minutes
plus 10 minutes for questions. The language of the conference is English.
The authors are expected to provide a title page in a separate word file.
The areas of research proposals and papers include, but are by no means
limited to:
Political Discourse
National and/or Pan-ethnicity identities
Resistance and anti-racist discourses
Pre/configuration of the future in political discourses
Legitimization of preemptive policies in political discourses
Political issues in cyberspace discourse
Language Education
Discourse and language policymaking
(Political) discourse and policymaking in educational contexts
Discourse and socio-cultural capitals in language teaching
Classroom discourse and language education
Discourse analysis and interlanguage pragmatics
Discourse analysis and language teaching
Translation Studies
Political discourse and translation
Translation and cultural diplomacy through political discourses
Translation evaluation of political discourses
Political ideologies and identity-making manoeuvres in political discourse
